Renovation Fit-Outs

The electrical happens twice.
Miss the first one and it's expensive.

Rough-in before the walls close, fit-off once the cabinetry is in. Get the sequencing right and a renovation runs smooth; get it wrong and you're cutting into new plasterboard.

Rough-in and fit-off — both need booking around the rest of the trades, ideally early

What's Involved

What a renovation fit-out involves

Kitchens, bathrooms, laundries and full-house renovations, worked in around your builder's program.

1

Rough-in

Cabling run for every point, light and appliance before the plasterboard goes on. This is the visit that has to happen at the right time.

2

Circuit capacity check

New kitchens usually add load — induction, oven, dishwasher, more lighting. We work out whether the existing board can take it before you're committed.

3

Fit-off

Points, switches, lights and appliances installed and connected once the cabinetry and tiling are done.

4

Compliance and certification

Safety switch protection on new circuits, testing, and the paperwork you'll want if you sell or lease the place later.

The Process

How the job runs

1

Bring us in early

Ideally at plan stage. Point positions are far easier to change on paper than after the benchtop is templated.

2

Plan and quote

We mark up positions with you, sort out the switchboard question, and quote rough-in and fit-off as one fixed price.

3

Rough-in, timed to the build

We coordinate with your builder or cabinetmaker so we're in and out at the right point without holding anyone up.

4

Fit-off and sign-off

Everything fitted, tested and certified once the finishes are in.

Common Questions

The stuff people ask us

When should I book the electrician for a renovation?

As early as you can — ideally while the layout is still being decided. Rough-in has to happen before the walls are closed up, and that date is usually set by other trades. Late bookings are how people end up chasing cables through finished walls.

Do I need a switchboard upgrade for a new kitchen?

Sometimes. A modern kitchen with induction, a wall oven, a dishwasher and LED lighting adds circuits, and older boards frequently don't have the space or the safety switch protection required for new work. We check this at quoting stage, not halfway through.

Can you work in with my builder?

Yes, and we do regularly. Give us your builder's contact and we'll sort the sequencing directly rather than making you the messenger.

Do I get certification at the end?

Yes. New and altered circuits are tested and certified, and you get the documentation for your records.

What about bathroom lighting and heating?

Bathrooms have specific zone requirements around water — fittings need the right IP rating and correct placement. Exhaust fans, heat lamps and mirror lighting are all part of a standard bathroom fit-out for us.
