Hot Water Systems

No hot water is an emergency.
We treat it like one.

Storage tanks, instantaneous units, element and thermostat failures, tripping circuits and dead timers — the electrical side of hot water, sorted properly rather than patched.

Same week
Most failed systems on the Gold Coast are diagnosed and replaced within days, not weeks

What's Involved

Where hot water usually goes wrong

Roughly nine out of ten cold-shower callouts come down to one of these four.

E

Failed heating element

The most common failure by a long way. Often replaceable in place if the tank itself is still sound and not leaking.

T

Dead thermostat

Water that's lukewarm, scalding, or runs out far too fast usually points here. Cheap part, quick fix.

C

Tripping circuit or breaker

A hot water circuit that keeps tripping normally means moisture has got into the element. Resetting it repeatedly is not the answer.

R

Full system replacement

Tanks don't last forever. If it's leaking or well past its life, we'll say so rather than sell you a repair that buys three months.

The Process

How the job runs

1

Describe what it's doing

Cold water, lukewarm, running out early, or tripping the board — each one points somewhere different before we've even arrived.

2

Diagnose on site

We test the element, thermostat and circuit properly rather than guessing and swapping parts at your expense.

3

Repair or replace, your call

You get the honest version: what it costs to fix, what it costs to replace, and how long the repair is likely to last.

4

Install and test

New system connected, circuit tested, old unit taken away, and we run it up to temperature before we leave.

Common Questions

The stuff people ask us

Do I need an electrician or a plumber?

Both trades touch hot water. Anything on the electrical side — element, thermostat, circuit, isolation switch, off-peak timer — is electrical work. Tank, valves and pipework are plumbing. We'll tell you honestly which one you need, and we work alongside plumbers regularly on full replacements.

How long should an electric hot water system last?

Ten to fifteen years is typical for a storage tank on the Coast, though our water and the salt air don't do them many favours. Elements often go earlier and are worth replacing; a leaking tank is not.

Why does my hot water keep tripping the switchboard?

Almost always moisture inside a failing element creating an earth leakage fault. The safety switch is doing exactly what it should. Repeatedly resetting it is unsafe and won't fix the underlying fault.

Can I switch from off-peak to continuous?

Often yes, depending on your tariff, meter and switchboard. It costs more to run but you stop running out of hot water in the evening. We'll look at your setup and explain the trade-off before changing anything.

Do you take the old unit away?

Yes — removal and disposal of the old system is included in a replacement quote.
